4 Mandatory BIMI Prerequisites
DMARC Enforcement Required
Your domain must have a DMARC policy set to either p=quarantine or p=reject with pct=100.
SVG Tiny 1.2 P/S Compliant
The logo must be square (1:1), less than 32KB, in SVG Tiny Portable/Secure profile with no scripts or external entity links.
Served via HTTPS
The SVG logo must be accessible via a valid HTTPS URL with TLS 1.2+ and a valid SSL certificate.
VMC Certificate (For Gmail)
While Yahoo displays BIMI logos without a VMC, Google Gmail requires a Verified Mark Certificate issued against a registered trademark.
What is BIMI?
Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) is an email standard that enables companies who have implemented strong DMARC authentication to display their official logos next to incoming emails in supported mailboxes like Gmail, Yahoo, and Apple Mail.
Do I Need a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC)?
For Yahoo Mail and Fastmail, a valid SVG logo with DMARC enforcement is sufficient. However, Google Gmail and Apple Mail require a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) issued by a recognized certificate authority (like DigiCert) certifying your trademark.
